Christian Education at Second

The Mission of the Christian Education at Second Presbyterian

Talk to Us!
The Christian Education Committee invites your input and support in this exciting new year. Please talk to any committee member about what you’re thinking regarding this important part of our church life for all ages. Also, we encourage you to consider joining our committee or at least attending a meeting and talking with us. We meet at 6:00 p.m. on the first Monday each month. Members: Rev Don Fisher, Paula Isgrig, Elder Carolyn Nesbitt (chairperson), Elder Ann Alexander, David Gibbin, Ann Woolley, Mark Hash.
Worship ALIVE!

Sunday mornings, during 10:15 a.m.

The Christian Education Committee would like to introduce a time for 8-12 years olds during worship, following the Children’s Sermon on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Sunday of each month.  We will gather after the Children’s Time and head to CalvinCenter for a time of worship and learning.  This time will be dedicated to helping young people understand worship by spending time learning together interactively.  On the first Sunday of each month, we hope that the families will worship together for communion.  If you have questions, please see Pat Groshong or Paula M. Isgrig.

Bible Speaks Today: Will not meet on October 25, 2009
With the Bible in one hand and a newspaper in the other, a thoughtful group gathers on Sunday mornings to discuss how God's Word guides our daily lives. Facilitators Steve Owens and Barbara Loots bring background resources to the table and help guide the conversation. Each week the class studies those scripture passages that serve as the basis for that day's sermon. In this way, the class studies important passages in the Bible and makes their worship experience even more meaningful. Third floor, Room C.

Covenant Class:
Themes tie the lessons together, but we attempt to have each class stand on its own in this discussion format Bible study class which explores the meaning of scripture and how it effects our everyday lives.  Third floor, Room D.

Join Us Tuesdays
We wonder why more people don't join us at 7:00-8:00 a.m. every Tuesday morning for Bible Study in Meeting Room A. You probably just don't know what we're up to. Using the standard 4-selection lectionary for the following Sunday, we read the selections and discuss them as the Spirit leads us. Coffee, juice, and sometimes, "nibbles" are provided. Promptness is not required and leaving early is understood. All of the regulars keep coming back, because we don't want to miss the experience. Let us share it with you.
