These Small Groups where dreamed up in an attempt to encourage friendship, relationships and conversations among those who call Second Presbyterian their church home. It is my hope that each of you will step out and meet others who share the pews with you, that you will open your hearts and lives to care and share with the other members of this church family. Go ahead and try an event that you might not have before – my guess is that you will find a smiling face when you arrive.

Please sign up for the small groups at the table in the downstairs lobby or by contacting Tera Yakel at 816-363-1300 or tyakel@secondpres.org. It is important that we have accurate numbers for the restaurants and caterers to prepare adequately.

Book Discussion with Mary Wolfe
Tuesday, September 7, 7:00 p.m. Parlor
Join Mary Wolfe to discuss Ivan Doig’s book The Whistling Season. This is a delightful story about a year in the life of a widowed man and his three young sons who lived on a homestead in Montana in 1910, the year of the appearance of Halley's comet. The story is told with the humor of a man who looks back with fondness to a time when his advertisement for a housekeeper led to life changing events for his family and neighbors.
It is a story of children who found education in a one room school house, and of neighbors who found community there. Yes, and there is mystery, too.

Friday Night Out - Friday, September 10, 5:30-9:30 p.m.
Join us for a night out on the town. Jack Gage American Tavern (5031 Main St., KCMO), a restaurant in the newly redone south plaza district will be on tap for dinner. With a brief walk down the street to Glace Artisan Ice Cream, Christopher Elbow’s new addition to KC for dessert, the evening promises to be a culinary delight. Child care will be provided at the church. Please bring a sack dinner for your child/ren.
