I will sing of the Lord’s great love forever.
With my mouth I will make your faithfulness known to all generations.
Psalm 89:1
Dear Members & Friends,
Second Presbyterian is poised to "Sing a New Song!" The scriptural reference quoted above gives the challenge with clarity.
2010 is the beginning of a new era in the grand history of Second Presbyterian Church. It is our turn to respond in faithfulness with our financial gifts as we stand in Christ’s name to "Sing a New Song!"
The song will require our voices, our sacrifices and our generosity. Generations in the past have left buckets overflowing with water for our thirsty souls. May we continue to be generous with our financial gifts and our compassionate hearts.
Weekly, the joy of a relationship with Jesus Christ flows outward from Second Presbyterian to the community through spirited traditional worship, uplifting music, numerous mission endeavors, small groups, Christian education and fellowship. In addition, the staff members are enthusiastic and have excellent gifts to assist the members in singing God’s praises. Members and staff work in harmony to fulfill our ministry to Christ. That ministry is to give the food of life to hungry souls.
As officers, we request your financial "pledge of faith" coupled with your pledge of prayer for our mutual ministry. 2010 will bring joyful challenges to the church we love. With a new pastor to come among us and in light of the ongoing needs of Second Church, we hope for a 5-10% increase in giving. To "Sing a New Song!" the voice of all members will be needed.
Your pledge card for 2010 is enclosed. Please bring your completed pledge card to worship on Sunday, October 25, 2009. A time of in-gathering will take place within the context of worship. In prayerful consideration, we ask that your "pledge of faith" be added to the new song we will sing in 2010.
In Christ’s Ministry,
The Session and the Stewardship Committee
